Amboseli lies immediately north-west of Mount Kilimanjaro, on the border with Tanzania. The Park covers 392 square km, and forms part of the much larger 3,000 square km Masai Amboseli ecosystem.
Large concentrations of wildlife occur here in the dry season, making Amboseli a popular tourist destination. It is surrounded by six communally owned group ranches that complement each other for nonexistence of permanent fences hence animals can freely migrate.
The National Park embodies five main wildlife habitats (open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland) and also covers part of a Pleistocene lake basin that is now dry.
Amboseli is famous for its big game and its great scenic beauty, the landscape is dominated by the towering Mount Kilimanjaro which forms a beautiful backdrop of this park.
Day 1: 6:00am. Mombasa-Amboseli
Pick up from your Mombasa hotel or residence early in the morning. Drive to Amboseli National Park which is famous for its scenery with a backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, which dominates the landscape and open plains. Arriving around midday at the Sentrim luxury tented camp, check in, have lunch and a short rest. Afternoon game drive follows inside the park until sunset. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.{FB}
Day 2: Amboseli -Mombasa
Early morning breakfast followed by a game drive en-route to the exit of Amboseli national park. On the way you have a chance to visit the local Masai tribe for an authentic cultural experience; this is an optional activity that will attract an extra fee of $25 to be paid at the entrance. Proceed on to Mombasa with lunch en-route at Voi town. After lunch proceed on with your journey to Mombasa arriving at your hotel or residence later in the evening. {HB}.
