The Tsavo East National park is part of the larger 20,819sq km Tsavo biodiversity area that includes the East and the west. It is a beautiful park consisting of rugged plains, Rocky Mountains, towering escarpments, volcanic deposits and other beautiful sceneries. The vegetation varies from arid bush shrubs to acacia and swamps. Tsavo is famous for the Marauding Lions of Tsavo that have been immortalized by John Henry Patterson in the movie ‘the Man Eaters of Tsavo’. This is because they used to attack and kill Engineers and their workers who were constructing the Kenya-Uganda railway line from 1895 to 1903.
The park has well over 500 bird species which includes Ostrich, buzzards, Rollers and the migratory Kestrel. Wildlife to be seen, includes:- Buffaloes, rhinos, Lions, Leopards, Hyena, Kudus (greater/lesser), gerenuks, zebra, waterbucks, hartebeest and the hirola antelope{rare}
Accommodation in the Tsavo is available in three game Lodges; four tented camps, three public campsites, three self-service bandas and a few public campsites.
Safari program:
DAY1:8:00am.We pick you from your coastal hotel or residence for a 3 hour drive to the Tsavo East. If staying at south coast, we will be required to pick you earlier to avoid the traffic at the Likoni ferry channel. Our drive is a comfortable one with beautiful sceneries of the coastal countryside dotted with palm trees as you see the humble life of resident rural communities. We will stop for bathrooms and refreshments before checking in at the Tsavo East Bachuma gate.
11:00am. Embark on a game drive in this sprawling park, looking out for herds of elephants that can be seen in their hundreds. Other animals including predators can also be spotted, the beautiful sceneries in this park compliments your photographs. Proceed on to your reserved lodge or camp for lunch. Most camps and lodges have dug a huge watering hole for animals set strategically by the dining and lounge areas.
4:00pm.Enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of more animals, your guide is experienced to take you to the best areas of interest where you will enjoy a variety of game. Check out for the beautiful sunset in the horizons as you return to camp for dinner and overnight. {FB}.
DAY2:6:30am. Wake up to the sounds of nature and a beautiful sunrise. Coffee will be served before you proceed on an early morning game drive, this is a crucial time since the predators are more active in the mornings when it is cooler you may encounter a hunt or an actual kill of prey by the predators. Return to camp by 8:30am for proper breakfast.
9:30am. Load up the van for another en route game drive as you exit the park, this can also yield good results of amazing game. Your guide can take you to a Masai village at the edge of the park for an optional authentic cultural tour. The village costs usd 25. Later your lunch will be at a convenient spot on the way.
You are dropped off at your hotel or residence by late afternoon or evening before sunset.{B}
