Day 1:
Nairobi Arrival and Departure to Masai Mara.
Your safari will start with a pick-up at JKIA Airport or from you overnight hotel residence. You will later drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. On your way, you will have a stop-over at the Great Rift valley viewpoint for a panorama view of the escarpment, a chance for a photo session, attend washrooms, and an opportunity to visit Curio shops. You will then Proceed and arrive at Masai Mara, one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves, in time for lunch. Check-in at a Masai Mara lodge or camp and take a hot lunch. Freshen up and have some time to relax, familiarize and enjoy the property.
Around 4 pm, you will head for an afternoon game drive. The game drive starts at the gate since the lodge is inside the park. The Reserve is globally famous for its exceptional population of Big cats and the Great annual wildebeest migration to and from the Serengeti every year from July to October, also known as the 7th Wonder of the world. After the game drive, you will head back to the lodge by sunset for dinner and overnight.
Day 2:
Masai Mara full day exploration.
Early morning breakfast then exit the lodge with packed lunch for a whole day game drive inside the Mara National Reserve searching for the Big 5 and other animals. In case your safari falls from July to October, you will have the privilege to witness the 7th wonder of the world, the annual wildebeest migration, especially the thrilling event of Mara river crossing where revenous crocodiles await them in anticipation. Afterwards, enjoy a picnic lunch under the shade of a convenient accacia tree overlooking the glorious endless plains of the Mara. Your game drive continues until evening when you head back to the lodge for a freshly prepared hot dinner. Later enjoy a campfire and an overnight at the lodge.
Day 3:
Masai Mara 2nd Day Full Exploration
Today’s program is also very flexible; you can choose between three options;-
Option 1: Opt for an early morning hot air balloon safari (USD 450pp) to explore the entire Mara reserve from a bird’s eye view, this is followed by a champagne breakfast in the wilderness and a mid-morning game drive before driving to the lodge for lunch. Later have an afternoon game drive.
Option 2: Take an early breakfast and exit the lodge with packed lunch for a whole day game drive at the Mara Reserve, searching for the Big 5 and other animals, return to the camp with an option of visiting a traditional Masai village.
Option 3: You may opt to have an early morning game drive in search of the big cats and observe some predator activities , return for breakfast, freshen up and spend the rest of the mid-morning at leisure, either swimming in the pool or just relaxing. Later have lunch and proceed for the evening game drive around 4 pm, until sunset when you return for dinner and overnight.
Note: With any of the three options, you can make arrangements for an Optional Visit to a Masai Village at an extra cost.
Day 4:
Masai Mara - Serengeti National Park
Wake up to the sounds of nature and witness a beautiful sunrise from the African skies. After enjoyingbreakfast at the camp, depart with packed lunchfor a whole day game drive. We are in what is arguably the world’s most acclaimed wildlife sanctuary, a richly endowed arena with its huge concentrations of plains game, numerous predators and prolific birdlife all resident on the seemingly endless savannah grassland and acacia dotted landscape that epitomize Africa’s game parks. We will traverse the Park west to east undertaking extensive and unhurried taking a break under a convenient acacia tree shade to enjoy a picnic lunch in a timeless atmosphere. We then return for dinner and overnight at the marvelous Tanzania Bush Camp or similar in Serengeti.
Day 5:
Serengeti National Park Full Day
Wake up to the sounds of nature and witness a beautiful sunrise from the African skies. After enjoyingbreakfast at the camp, depart with packed lunch for a whole day game drive, this will enable you to penetrate the park further having great opportunities of finding great game specifically focusing on the BIG 5 of Africa, follow the Migration route, and encounter hundrends of grazing herbivores.You are likely to see an impressive number of different prides of lions and other cats. Take a break under a convenient acacia tree shade and enjoy a picnic lunch in a timeless atmosphere while looking at the endless golden savannah plains. You will later return for dinner and overnight at the marvelous Tanzania Bush Camp in Serengeti.
Day 6:
Serengeti - Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Morning breakfast followed by a drive to the Ngorongoro Conservancy area. You will arrive in time for lunch at the Rhino Lodge situated on the edge of the crater. You will then leave the camp for a half-day crater tour after lunch. About the Crater: The Ngorongoro Conservation Area as a whole has much to offer, but the jewel in its crown is, without a doubt, the eponymous crater – an area of 265 sq km, which is 610 meters deep and 19 km across. The rim of the crater is an astounding 2286 meters above sea level. The floor contains a small soda lake called Lake Magadi, and it is estimated that 30000 animals live in the crater, making it the most intensive safari game viewing area on earth. It was therefore very fittingly declared a World Heritage Site in 1978. A visit to Tanzania is incomplete without a safari visit to this park. Later you will be driven back to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 7:
Ngorongoro-Amboseli National Park.
Have breakfast and then embark on a drive to Amboseli National Park with packed lunches. After visa formalities at the Namanga border point , meet our Kenyan safari guide and proceed on to the Amboseli National Park. Arrive at Amboseli around 2 pm and head straight to the observation hill; the highest point in Amboseli for your picnic lunch. The hill offers spectacular views of Mt Kilimanjaro and the greater park surroundings. After lunch, continue with your game drive in this majestic park anticipating great sightings of animals and birds. The park is famous for its abundance of free-ranging elephants., over 1600 elephants are estimated to live within the Amboseli ecosystem, you get very close to individual elephant herds and also enjoy spectacular views of the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. Great photography opportunities are available for best snapshots of unique African sunset and sunrise. After the game drive, you are driven to the camp for check-in at Kibo Safari Camp. Freshen up and proceed for a warm dinner with soothing traditional music playing in the background. Later enjoy a brilliant bonfire and a peaceful overnight.
Day 8:
Amboseli full day exploration.
Another beautiful day in Amboseli, head for early morning breakfast and enjoy clear spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro well observed from the camp’s main restaurant.
On this day, you have two options to choose from;-
Option 1; You may opt to have an early morning game drive, return for a hot proper breakfast, freshen up and spend the rest of the midmorning at your leisure, either swimming in the pool, taking a nature walk, bird watching or just relaxing. Later have lunch and proceed for the evening game drive. Finally, return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Option 2: You may have an early breakfast and proceed for a whole day game drive with packed lunches. Return to the camp for dinner and turn in for the night.
Note: Both options will offer you time and a chance to visit a local Masai community for an elaborate and brilliant cultural interaction.
Day 9:
Amboseli National Park- Nairobi Departure.
After an unhurried breakfast, prepare for your drive to Nairobi, you will have some scheduled stops for refreshing, washrooms and shopping, your guide will recommend anything that you my want to do on this final day depending on your flight schedule. Some options to consider includes:-
- Visit the Kazuri beads factory.
- Visit utamanduni art gallery
- Visit the Giraffe Center
- Dinner at the famous Carnivore Restaurant for meat lovers.
This marks the end of your 9-Day Best of Kenya and Tanzania Safari full of great memories.
