The Amboseli and Tsavo ecosystem is believed host a population of about 20,000 elephants. Indulge in an elephant focused game drive in Amboseli where you watch these gentle giants closely as they forage, play and bathe in the numerous swamps dotting this park. Get introduced to individual herds of elephants on a full day game drive and attempt to capture their photographs in front of the majestic snow Capped Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli is also rich in birdlife for its 450 species recorded. Enjoy watching a variety of other wildlife including Lions, cheetah, hyenas, and jackals. Buffalo, Eland, Giraffes, Zebras and a big number of other mammalian species.
Proceed on your tour driving along the edges of Mount Kilimanjaro to access the lush Taita Hills and Salt lick game sanctuary. This is a114sq km private conservancy bordering Tsavo west national park and with a diversity of ecological habitats consisting of semiarid scrubland, woodland and riverine forests, lowland and mountains. The sanctuary is a host to over 50 mammal species including a good population of elephants, zebras, buffalo, giraffe, some predators and a variety of birds. Your stay here will be at the magical Salt Lick game lodge, a charming and luxurious accommodation with a unique elevated design to enable guests enjoy uninterrupted views of its several waterholes.
Your safari also features Tsavo west and East National parks, a magnificent and fiercely fascinating destination, this ecosystem has an awe inspiring landscape that includes flat and dry woodland plains dotted with towering cliffs, rocky outcrops, volcanic plateaus, dry river beds and wet swamps. Tsavo is well known for its large population of “Red elephants” that derive their colour from mud bathing with the Red earth of Tsavo, other large mammals found here includes; Cape buffalo, Kudu, waterbuck, Eland. Giraffe, hartebeest and a variety of gazelle species. Predators includes Lions {fondly immortalized as the Man Eaters of Tsavo for Stealthily attacking railway workers in 1898} Leopard, Cheetah, Hyenas, jackals and the elusive African hunting dog. 350 species of resident and migratory birds can also be seen.

Day 1:
Nairobi - Amboseli national park.
Early morning pick up from your Nairobi Hotel or Airport for a relaxed morning drive to Amboseli National Park, with scheduled stops we plan to arrive in time for lunch. Amboseli National Park is famous for its scenery and the magnificent backdrop view of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro which is the tallest mountain in the Africa. It dominates the landscape, and open plains. After a brief rest head out for an afternoon game drive until sunset when you will return to the lodge/camp.

Day 2:
Amboseli National Park full day exploration.
Early breakfast at the camp enjoying beautiful views of Mt. Kilimanjaro from the camp restaurant, we then leave the camp with packed picnic lunches to spend an entire day inside the park, we shall have great opportunities and unhurried pace of watching animal behavior and capturing the best photographs, we shall be visiting the numerous water holes where wildlife like to concentrate for food and mud bathing, Our lunch today will be at the observation hill, the highest point in the reserve with beautiful 360 degrees view of the entire reserve. We embark on a return game drive after lunch with an option of visiting a community village for a cultural interaction. We shall arrive back to the camp later after a marvelous day out in the park. Enjoy a camp fire outside by the night.

Day 3:
Amboseli -Taita Hills and Salt Lick Sanctuary.
Breakfast in Amboseli is complimented by a beautiful sunrise and a clear morning view of Mount Kilimanjaro, we then load our vehicle for a 4 hour drive to the Taita Hills game sanctuary. This is an interesting drive along the boundary of Kenya and Tanzania with superb views of Kilimanjaro and scenic beauty of rural farms and villages. We arrive at the Taita hills lodge to a set buffet lunch. We then take an en route game drive through the sanctuary enjoying various wildlife sightings most common here are elephants, Zebras, hartebeest, dikdik, Giraffe, Impalas, and Buffalo. A number of predators can be spotted including Lions, Hyenas, cheetah, and jackals, enjoy a variety of birds and primates before checking in at the marvelous Salt Lick game Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4:
Taita Hills and Tsavo West full day exploration.
Wake up to the sounds of nature and a beautiful sunrise. After a continental breakfast, start your adventurous full day exploration of Tsavo west national park from Taita hills. With picnic lunches, access Tsavo west through Maktau gate and immediately embark on a game drive, this is a huge sprawling park with magnificent landscape, you will be visiting areas of bush scrubs, riverine forests, swamps and rocky cliffs. Look out for the “Red elephants” of Tsavo, Kudus, Giraffes, Gerenuk, Oryx, Zebras buffalo and a variety of Gazelle species. An opportunity to spot a pride of lions or a leopard may present itself. Enjoy your lunch at Mzima springs; a clear sparkling natural spring fed by underground streams that formed underneath a porous volcanic plateau. You return to Taita hills in the late afternoon to enjoy a swim or look at animals visiting a waterhole from an underground observatory.

Day 5:
Taita Hills -Tsavo East National Park.
Opt for an early morning game drive starting at around 0600 hrs. Catch-up with the first rays of the Sunrise and witness predators out in the field hunting for prey. Watch the early morning grazers and browsers and listen to the beautiful sounds of birds. It shall be a 2 uninturrupted hours of an enticing game drive before we return to the Lodge for proper breakfast and to prepare for our drive to the Tsavo East National Park.
After breakfast we set out for a comfortable midmorning drive to the Tsavo East, we shall embark on an enroute game drive and arrive at our camp in good time for Lunch.
After a leisurely afternoon we shall leave the camp for our game drive visiting the numerous wildlife concentration areas of Aruba and Kandili, large herds of elephants and buffaloes are a common sighting in these areas. We shall enjoy a wide variety of animals and if very lucky come to a close encounter with the African hunting dog, Game drive will run until sunset when we return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6
Tsavo East full day exploration.
A new day dawns at Tsavo, we shall start off with an early morning game drive in this fascinating and awe striking park, early morning game drives presents great opportunities to see predators hunting or still feasting on a last night kill. We explore the park hoping to see the Marauding Lions of tsavo which have been immortalized as the ‘Man Eaters of Tsavo’. This is because they used to attack and kill Engineers and their crew who were constructing the Kenya- Uganda railway. We return to the lodge or camp at 9:00 am for a full proper breakfast.
Midmorning will be at leisure since it gets very hot in Tsavo and animals tend to hide from the midday sun. Hot Lunch will be served before our next afternoon game drive commences. Enjoy the park’s 500 species of birds including ostrich, buzzards, Rollers and the migratory Kestrel. Wildlife to be seen, includes:- Buffaloes, Lions, Leopards, Hyena, Kudus (greater/lesser), Oryx, gerenuks, zebra, and waterbucks.
We return to lodge or camp by sunset for dinner and overnight {FB}.
Day 7:
Tsavo East to Diani beach South coast.
Early breakfast in Tsavo, this is the last day on safari and we plan to make the best out of it. We shall load up shortly after breakfast and embark on an enroute game drive towards the exit of the park, this day also presents great sighting opportunities since there’s no dull moment in the wilderness. We exit the park to join the main highway to Mombasa heading for Diani. Enjoy a smooth drive through rural villages and take a scheduled stop for Lunch and refreshments. You are then dropped off at your beach resort in the afternoon to enjoy the rest of your holiday. This marks the end of our 7 days elephant encounter safari full of excitement and great memories {HB}.
